Graduates
If you are an undergraduate who would like to attend the ceremony you will need a ticket, please return back to this site soon for the link to redeem your tickets. Doctoral and masters students will receive a separate invitation based on eligibility.
Those receiving bachelor’s and master’s degrees will gather in the Weiser Family Club on the concourse level. Students will process down the stairs and onto the arena floor under the direction of faculty marshals. If you are unable to use the stairs, enter through the Crisler Center Tunnel where event staff will direct you to seating or to join the graduate procession to be seated on the arena floor. Bachelor’s/Master’s graduates are seated in an open format and not by school/college or alphabetical order. During the ceremony, all degree recipients will proceed to the stage to shake hands with either the president or the provost.
Doctoral degree recipients will gather on the concourse level of Crisler Center near section 116. You will receive your name card with a number. Faculty marshals will direct you to seating where you will sit in a seat corresponding with the number on your card. Faculty marshals will lead doctoral recipients in the graduate procession to doctoral seating on the arena floor.
Guests
Tickets are required for guests and graduates attending Winter Commencement.
Crisler Center doors will open at 12:30 p.m. Families and guests may enter through either Crisler’s Northeast Entrance (main entryway) or Southwest Entrances and should be seated by 1:50 p.m. The Southwest entrance will be open for guests needing drop-off assistance.
Crisler Center staff members will be on hand to direct guests to their seats in the arena.
Guests who plan to watch the graduate procession should be seated by 1:15 p.m.
The ceremony is expected to last from 2:00 p.m. until approximately 4:00 p.m.
Safety
Permitted Items:
- Binoculars – cases are not permitted
- Cell phones
- Small cameras (those with a lens shorter than 6 inches)
Prohibited Items:
- All bags (including purses, clear bags, fanny packs, etc.)
- All bottles (including all types of water bottles)
- Alcoholic beverages
- Aerosol and spray cans
- Animals (except service animals for persons with a disability)
- Apparel or signage displaying profane or abusive language
- Containers of any kind (including coolers, thermoses, cups, cans, flasks)
- Flags and flagpoles
- Food of any kind
- Irritants
- Noisemakers (including but not limited to whistles, air horns, boom boxes, bull horns, kazoos, sirens, thunder sticks, vuvuzelas, etc.)
- Projectiles (including footballs, Frisbees and beach balls)
- Seat cushions containing any type of metal or those with pockets, storage slots, seat backs, arm rests, or attachments of any kind
- Strollers
- Video camera, tripods and selfie sticks
- Umbrellas
- Weapons
- Any other item that may obstruct or impair the view or enjoyment of another attendee (including banners, signs, etc.)
Please note that smoking, smokeless tobacco, or vaping is not permitted anywhere in the Crisler Center or on U-M property.

Medical exceptions will be addressed individually at the entrances. Those requiring necessary items (e.g., diapers, medical prescriptions, etc.) are encouraged to carry them into the arena in a clear plastic bag.

Concessions
Concessions will be available in Crisler Center with limited food and refreshments, near the northeast entrance on the main concourse.
Merchandise
University of Michigan apparel and other items will be available for purchase at the MDen, located at Crisler Center’s northeast entrance.
