Required Tickets/General Information

All students participating in Spring Commencement are required to present a graduate ticket before being admitted to the ceremony.

In addition, all family members and other guests—including children over the age of 2–must have a guest ticket in order to enter Michigan Stadium.

Tickets are available free of charge. Guest seating is assigned, and all tickets are clearly marked with a section, row, and seat number.

Eligible students can pick up all their tickets during graduate ticket distribution.

All students participating in the graduate procession are required to have a graduate ticket

Bachelor’s degree recipients are eligible to receive a maximum of 8 guest tickets

Graduate/professional (master’s and doctoral) degree recipients are eligible to receive up to 4 guest tickets

Graduating students must present their student identification (MCard) in order to receive their graduate ticket and guest tickets during ticket distribution.

Graduate Tickets

Students can pick up both graduate and guest tickets at the Alumni Center (200 Fletcher Street, at the corner of Fletcher and Washington) on the following days:

  • Monday, April 27: 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 28: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 29: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

To celebrate, we’ll have giveaways, photo ops, and more! You will also have the opportunity to learn about your free year membership in the Alumni Association. Tickets are distributed throughout the three-day period. Seating assignments are entirely random, and early arrival will not guarantee preferred seats.

Please note: even if students do not intend to pick up their 4 or 8 allocated guest tickets, they must have a graduate ticket in order to participate in Spring Commencement.

Online Ticket Distribution & Will Call

Graduates who are unable to attend ticket distribution due to unavoidable circumstances will be able to receive their tickets through an online process beginning Thursday, April 30, 8:00 a.m. through Friday, May 1 ending 11:59 p.m.

However, premier seating locations will be given out at random during the three day ticket distribution at the Alumni Center. After ticket distribution, online tickets will be allocated based on a first-come, first-served process.  You will need to have your student UMID number when reserving your tickets online. Tickets reserved online MUST be presented when entering the stadium via printed copy or mobile device, including your graduate ticket.

You will also have the opportunity to learn about your free year membership in the Alumni Association by visiting the Alumni Association website.

On commencement day, the Will Call tent will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for those who need to pick up tickets at the stadium. If you cannot come to ticket distribution or use the online process please provide your information here so that we can reserve your tickets in advance.

The tent is located outside of the Stadium Boulevard entrance to Crisler Center, near Gate 2 of Michigan Stadium.

Wheelchair & Limited Mobility Seating for Guests

Wheelchair seating is available on a first-come, first- served basis. Please call (734) 647-6037 no later than Friday, April 24 to place your guest on the wheelchair seating list. You must have your MCard or student UMID number to pick up tickets.

One companion ticket, with adjacent seating, will be provided for every guest with a wheelchair seating ticket.  Other members of the party will be seated nearby.

If your guest(s) will not be using a wheelchair but have limited mobility, be sure to find out what seating is available for them. You do not need to call to reserve these tickets.

Additional Tickets

Following Graduate Ticket Distribution, remaining tickets will be made available to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of two tickets per person.

Graduating students may come to the Michigan Union Ticket Office, located on the ground floor of the Michigan Union, on: Thursday, April 30 through Friday, May 1 from 9:00 – 5:00 p.m. to request extra tickets.

General public ticket distribution will be held at the Michigan Union Ticket Office on: Friday, May 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
