Grad Photos at the Big House

Big House Experience

You've told us entering through the tunnel and walking onto the field at Michigan Stadium is one of the best traditions of University of Michigan commencements, and we've planned to safely provide this experience in the Big House for the class of 2021.

All eligible graduates (Fall 2020, Winter 2021, Spring/Summer 2021 grads) are invited to register for this appointment-based photo opportunity. Those interested in participating must register online for one of the available 30-minute time blocks in order to enter the stadium. The number of students and staff allowed on the field during each session will be limited in compliance with state guidelines.

Additional details, and the link to register, were sent to eligible graduates the week of March 29.

Have your photo taken on the field.

Professional photographers will be onsite to take student photos. Following the event, students will be mailed one complimentary photo print, with the opportunity to purchase additional prints. Students will also be able to take their own photos on the field at several photo-op stations.

Following COVID-19 safety guidelines.

All students, photographers, and staff will be required to adhere to the university’s COVID-19 policies and safety guidelines, including wearing a mask at all times, staying 6 feet from others, and completing the ResponsiBLUE questionnaire prior to accessing the stadium.

Can my family/parents come with me to my appointment?

Due to ongoing public health concerns, we are only allowing graduating students to register and attend this event. Students will register individually for available time-slots.

Are class of 2020 grads invited to attend?

The Grad Photos at the Big House will only be offered to eligible graduates of the class of 2021, which includes Fall 2020, Winter 2021, and Spring/Summer 2021 graduates.

Is there a cost involved to attend?

What COVID-19 safety measures will be taken?

All students accessing a U-M building or facility are required to participate in the weekly mandatory COVID-19 testing as outlined in the U-M COVID-19 Community Sampling and Tracking Program.
All participating students, photographers, and staff will be required to complete the ResponsiBLUE questionnaire prior to accessing the stadium.

I am immunocompromised/have accessibility needs and need to make special arrangements.

Additional information regarding accessibility or health concerns will be available to students as part of the registration process.

I am not on campus, how can I participate?

Graduates who are unable to participate in the photo opp are invited to download one of our virtual backgrounds to create their own graduate photo session at home and to check out the other commencement celebration experiences.

Should I wear academic attire?

Students are welcome to wear academic attire during the photo opportunity. Attire can be purchased at The Michiganensian, Barnes & Noble, Ulrich's, and the M Den. PhD candidates may order custom attire at For stoles, cords, and other adornments specific to your school, college, unit, or student group, please contact the school, college, unit, or student group directly.

If space is limited on the day I want to attend, can my friend/roommate and I share a time slot?

Pending availability, you may register for the same 30-minute time slot, but will need two separate registrations for field access at the same time. We cannot allow anyone field access without having completed an individual registration.
